Adobe Experience Manager is a major investment, usually made by large brands that need multi-site, multi-language content at scale. Too often the result is a set of rigid components authors can’t reuse, slow page publishing, and an on-premise or managed services setup that makes moving to AEM as a Cloud Service look daunting.
A senior AEM developer builds flexible components with core components as a base, sets up editable templates authors can work with, and plans cloud migrations properly.
Core components, Sling Models and HTL.
Policies and templates authors can use.
Fast, cache-friendly delivery.
Cloud Manager pipelines and cloud-compatible code.
Content fragments and GraphQL.
Adobe Analytics, Target and third-party systems.
Authors depend on developers. Rigid components mean every new page layout becomes a development ticket.
Slow sites. Poor caching with the dispatcher and CDN slows pages and loads publish servers.
Stalled cloud migration. Custom code that doesn’t fit AEM as a Cloud Service blocks the move.
Every engineer we put forward has at least five years of hands-on experience. Within that, here is how the levels differ.
Senior Developer (5–8 years). Builds components and editable templates in Java, HTL and Sling Models, configures dispatcher caching and works with Maven-based AEM projects.
Lead / Architect (8+ years). Owns AEM architecture, multi-site management, integrations with Adobe Analytics and Target, and migrations to AEM as a Cloud Service.
Component libraries. Reusable components built on core components
Cloud Service migrations. Moving from AEM 6.x to AEM as a Cloud Service
Headless AEM. Content fragments and GraphQL for apps and other front ends
Performance. Dispatcher, CDN caching and publish tuning
Week one. They review the project structure, components, dispatcher setup and deployment pipeline.
Weeks two and three. First components or fixes delivered through Cloud Manager or your pipeline.
Week four. A written plan covering component clean-up, performance and cloud readiness.
Building components from scratch. Core components cover a lot and are maintained by Adobe.
Static templates. Editable templates let authors work without developers.
Ignoring dispatcher caching. Most performance gains come from caching done right.
